my favorite blloogggg (:

It's been quite a long day. Lots of place to go, things to do. But despite all this, by the end of the day, I just wanna snuggle up in my "corner", listen to my favorite music, and go through every little detail, every corner of this blog. It's so great, she is an amazing photographer. The way she connects with her clients is amazing, and her photos are great! I only hope that someday I could have her take my picture! (:
Enjoy

Christmas Joy

Christmas Joy
Wrapping flying in the air,
Christmas joy for us to share,
Hot chocolate that warms the heart,
Families never far apart,
Children stay awake all night,
Watching for Santa's sleigh in flight,
Candy canes red and sweet,
Everyone waiting for a special treat,
Green trees stand pretty and tall,
lights shining brighter than all,
Fun carolers sing their song,
Angels watch all season long,
Snowman fill the white streets,
Radios playing Christmas beats,
Joy brought by the Holidays,
Happiness to all I pray.

Puppy Love

Okay, so I have a toy poodle, named Poopsie. Please, please ignore the name. My dad thought it was so perfect, but everyone else cringes at the sound of it. It's more than embarrassing! But anyway, her sister's (Bailey) owner is one of my mom's friends. Lucky them, they get play dates. Poopsie and Bailey get to go to the spa together, and last night they had a sleepover. Check out these pics of their fun together, Poopsie is the light one, and Bailey is the dark one.
There will be more later, but here are some before the trip to the spa!

Christmas in the Tropics

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas has never been a more accurate phrase to describe my Christmas wishes. Something about sweating on Christmas Eve doesn't really ring those silver bells for me. I miss having to put on a scarf when I walk outside, wearing my Uggs to refrain from frozen toes, drinking hot chocolate and feeling it run through your body. But instead I get wearing a tank top, flip flops, and carrying ice water around. But through this I've learned that Christmas is still just as good, as long as it is being spent with the fam, doing stuff we all love!

Edits: Photo is definitely not of Jakarta--- its of a more rural place in Indonesia. But its a picture of winter here. (:

Language of our Lives...

Each country, or place has its own language. A way of communication that signifies itself. But not all languages have to be spoken, but are mere actions and thoughts transferred from one being to another. And these thoughts, and these actions create the most beautiful silent language we know, a culture. The arts of a human intellectual, a refined understanding or apprecitation of ones self, the acheivements of a group of people, all shaping who they are. Traditions someone beholds, preforms. The aspects of a culture that create who it is, and what it stands for. The way we act, or see things, is the base of the language. And our habits, actions, and exploit of it, are the slang. Each one different, but shared within their group. An outsider can never fully seize the notion of the antics, and will never understand. It is like a secret, held dearly. This language is used daily, and some don't take note of it. But without it, we would would conduct a life of confusion. So live, appreciate, and realize the language of our lives. Cherish it, never to slip away, brushed away in the wind.

Ginger Bread For All

I love photography- I think its a great way for one to express themselves in ways other than words. They signify ones self, and display affection, anger, happiness, caring, every emotion in as much detail as we can imagine. After all: a picture is worth a thousand words (or in my case a million).
And as we all know I LOVE Christmas---check out these ginger bread houses. This blog is great, and I love to look through her stuff! She is a very creative photographer, and loves to share her life! :) Check it out---

Solitary, in a World that is Not my Own

Difference, isolation in a world that is not your own. Surrounded by others, others who are distinct from yourself. The feeling of solitary engulfs me as I am in a crowd of people who make me feel alone, pointed out, not them. Stares run up and down my face, I know I am being watched. I can feel their hot gazes on my skin, because I am different than them. Can I help this? No. It is something I will have to learn to deal with, and get used to, and realize it is a consequence of being in a country I do not belong to.
Pic: This is how I sometimes feel- Im the red one.

Frosty Jokes

I love Christmas~ it's definitely one of my favorite times of the year. So if I get a bit overly obsessed with the Christmas posts, please forgive. But its such a pretty time, the feeling of chill and cold (in most places), hot chocolate, Christmas music. So, I thought I'd share some Frosty the Snowman comics....just to brighten your day, and hopefully put a smile on your face. :) It certainly left one lingering on mine.

Gave In To It

I gave in. I know, it's crazy, but I did. I tried the Avocado Mousse cake at Starbucks. I figured if I were to try it, I would have to do it there because that's where it looks the prettiest. Yes, I must admit, it wasn't as bad as I had imagined. But it was definitely a one time thing-not a food I will have to try again. The avocado did not really taste like avocado, more just like a green tasteless spread. But I am glad to have experienced a new food, and still don't think I will bring myself to try the drink version.

A Taste of the Unknown

How many of you like Guacamole? A few right, it's so good with chips and salsa, or nachos, hmmm, and burritos! Or what about avocados? They are basically the same thing right? And how many of you love chocolate? I just imagined about every hand in the world raising to that one, everyone loves chocolate to an extent. Well, how about chocolate and avocado together? Yeah, I don't think so. But here, in Indonesia, it's a delicacy. Avocado is used a drink to cool yourself on a hot day, and what better to have it with chocolate syrup. Well, it doesn't stop there. Not only is it a drink, but also the ever so popular cake. Even places so known to us, like Starbucks sell a Avocado Mousse Cake. After a year and a half of seeing it every time I go to get my delicious coffee, I am still astounded at the sight of it, nor do I think I will ever get over the idea of chocolate and avocado together. Although it may seem weird to me, listen to this. The other night I was having a taco with guacamole, and an Indonesian said to me "Avocado with tacos, that's so gross, I have it as a drink."
So, I guess this all comes to show, that what may seem weird to one, is perfectly normal to another. But chocolate and this green slimy vegetable, seems like something I will never be able to get my mind past. Don't believe me about this awkward dish? Take a look at this pics taken at Starbucks!

Indonesia at a Glance

Indonesia, a country located in South East Asia, is very unique and has many aspects different to most. The topography? Well, its pretty much a huge rainforest, separated into thousand of islands. There are over 18,000 islands, and so many dialects I think its near impossible to learn them all. Farming is very popular, lots of rice and coffee grown all around.
Food: Well, its basically Nasi Goreng (fried rice), Mie Goreng (fried noodles), and Soto Ayam (fried chicken). Besides that, Nasi Puti (White rice). If its not fried, then it doesn't belong here.
Poverty is a common word, or state of being. The people, they don't have much, but regardless of their belongings, reglardless of how much money they have to their name, regardless of their occupation or education, they are happy. Every day it amazes me, and I don't think I will ever fully grasp the concept or source of their happiness.

P.S.

Sorry for assuming...I tend to do that a lot.
But for those of you who don't know, a Third Culture Kid is one who lives overseas, or is growing up in a different culture than their own.
